The Team Supporting Children and Youth
Stiftelsen IMTEC invites participation in the development project: "The Team Supporting Children and Youth."
Recently, several reforms have been initiated in the upbringing sector, all aiming to strengthen the interaction between children, youth, and staff.
These reforms empower employees in schools and kindergartens to develop practices by building complementary and supportive teams around the learning and development of children and youth.
This approach involves the entire upbringing sector and all support systems in counties and municipalities.
Successful implementation of these reforms requires involvement from politicians, administration, and union representatives.
Leadership is essential in this process.
Our society faces challenges that we must address more effectively:
• In recent years, several counties and municipalities have experienced declines in student survey results.
• More students now report feelings of exclusion, bullying, insecurity, and uncertainty.
• A larger proportion of students have shown reduced development in academic skills such as reading, mathematics, and science.
• The number of reported cases to the County Governor (formerly under Education Act § 9a) has increased significantly in recent years.
The success of counties and municipalities in implementing these reforms is crucial for promoting the inclusion and mastery of youth in society.
IMTEC collaborates with clients (municipalities and county municipalities) to tailor development work aimed at implementing the reforms in a way that leaves a lasting impact on practice.
IMTEC emphasizes that development work should involve the respective municipality or county municipality, jointly conducting an analysis of the current situation to determine what needs to be refined, improved, and renewed.
Furthermore, IMTEC views the implementation of national reforms as a process rather than a one-time event.
These processes should provide learning opportunities for participants and ensure professional assistance throughout.
Broad involvement from children, youth, staff, and guardians is essential, with processes tailored to local realities.
Reforms should be understood holistically and seen in context (incremental change), with interdisciplinary collaboration being a priority.
The development work focuses on capacity building and organizational learning to strengthen implementation capabilities.
The goal is to learn from practical experiences by building a practice that is continually tested, evaluated, and developed.
This approach ensures that those who will live with the consequences of the reforms become reflective practitioners.
